NYCCOC–Jacob Javits Center
The renovation and expansion of the Jacob Javits Center became a role model for the NY state government’s push to drive new construction on an integrated design-build basis. In turn, this became a prime example of the need for an HVAC partner capable of supporting this kind of custom integration across the entire process.
Gil-Bar worked with the engineer, construction manager, and installing contractor both in the job’s design as well as the development, manufacture, and testing of new products on an as-needed basis.
Our engineering team worked with our partner manufacturers AAON and ClimaCool to design custom solutions for a very tight energy model, while responding to sound concerns. The units needed to be transportable over the road and fit within a very limited footprint of available roof space. AAON launched a new product just for Gil-Bar
in order to meet these needs. Our field services team also assisted in designing and implementing the controls integration package. They handled factory testing verification, integration of controls, rigging supervision, assembly, and on-site project management for an 18-month maintenance and service contract during the construction period. As a result, our clients received an optimally integrated system, with the highest degree of both efficiency and accountability.
